Langara College launched The Langara Centre for Art in Public Spaces as a unique approach to the City of Vancouver public art requirement. The mission of the Centre is to engage communities in the research, production and presentation of art in the public realm. The Centre encourages dialogue, and fosters opportunities to collaborate on, experience and learn about art in public spaces.

Lorna Brown participated in the management of the start up and development of the Centre and its program; this involved leading the selection process for a series of an Artist in Residence programs, curriculum development and a Speakers Series.
